Lupulus: discovering the Gouvy brewery and its range

Blonde, Organicus, Hopera, fruit beers and 0.0% versions: understand the fifteen Lupulus entries in the encyclopedia.

Updated on

From a local beer to Lupulus brewery

In Courtil, in the municipality of Gouvy, the story starts with Les 3 Fourquets in 2003. Lupulus beer appeared in 2007, and the brewery adopted that name in 2016. Pierre Gobron and his sons Julien and Tim are part of this family story. These dates place the brewery in the Belgian Ardennes, without reducing its output to one regional recipe: the range covers several different brewing approaches.

Blonde and Organicus: comparing two tripels

Lupulus Blonde and Organicus both contain 8.5% alcohol and are described as unfiltered and bottle-conditioned. Organicus is organically certified and highlights Belgian Cascade hops. Comparing them encourages you to look beyond strength at certification, the ingredients mentioned and the aromatic profile. Similar names do not justify copying the details of one beer to the other. Each has its own profile and deserves to be considered as a separate reference.

Following the hops

Hopera, at 6%, provides another starting point. The producer documents dry hopping and aromas suggesting tropical fruit. These are aromatic descriptions rather than a declaration that those fruits were added. Hazy Session, NEIPA and Krush extend the theme within the catalogue. Open their profiles to distinguish style, version and container instead of assuming that all hop-focused beers share the same intensity, texture or balance.

Other colours and balances

Brune, Blanche, Pils, Hibernatus and Jolly Poupée illustrate the breadth of the featured references. Fructus and Bleuette provide a route into fruit-focused beers. First compare the stated styles, then the descriptions of texture and finish. Lupulus identifies the producer, but cannot by itself predict colour, bitterness or sweetness. The individual links below help avoid guessing the characteristics of one beer from another you already know in the same range.

Keep the two 0.0% references distinct

Placebo 0.0% follows a hoppy approach; the brewery says its recipe does not require dealcoholisation. Bleuette 0.0% is a fruit-focused reference separate from Bleuette. Both therefore deserve individual profiles just like the other beers. If you are choosing for the stated absence of alcohol, check the complete name and the label of the actual product. The word Bleuette on its own does not identify the 0.0% version.

Explore the fifteen profiles and plan a visit

This page brings together the fifteen Lupulus entries in the catalogue, including particular formats and editions. Inclusion does not promise permanent availability. The producer offers visits in Courtil; its own calendar remains the reference for current languages, places and arrangements. Continue with the tripel guide for a comparison across breweries, or discover Chouffe as another route through the brewing traditions of the Ardennes.
